no doubt about it, i need to invest in a laptop. maybe i could've kept up the momentum that i've been skanking to over the past year... plenty having flowed under this bridge in the days past. in fact, though, it was nice not being enslaved to a cathode ray tube of any kind for a while... except for the occasional footie match. hey, it's english football season... can't deny all of my vices. but really, the escape from the usual shit, the little unmarked paths that i'm subconsciously wearing into the landscape, the black hood of conformity and monotony... now that was worth cutting off the rest of the world for just a bit. not that i want to exclude everyone that has tattooed themselves into my brain... but air, i need air. the days previous had been killing off any spark of creativity that managed to flare up from lack of oxygen. the bad part? i could just as easily kept on going in the other direction. maybe "bad" isn't the word. but, i could hear doors closing. don't want them all to close... too damned difficult to open them from the start. well, the typing thing is coming back. i'll have to resort to the condensed version of what's gone on in the past seven pages in the calendar (though it looks like they've saved everything for me at work since last week). that'll be a first, when the time comes. one impression i will leave (until i get enough time to elaborate on the others)... that last glance of the ocean before i headed west felt just like a final gaze at a lost love, when you know it's over for good. except you can go back to the sea. |
