rock and roll fantasy

i've decided that this must be the most lame "rock" song ever written.

darlings of classicrock, BadCompany doesn't even rate a space in the stacks of LPs and CDs that provide the insulation in this house... unless it was one of my brother's things. let's just say, i never felt the compelling need to do without food to own any example of their clapped-out ennui.
they even had one member that resides in the grooves of that pile of MottTheHoople wax directly behind me. so, they had their chance.

and wasted it. laconic, thudding drums. uninterested guitar, with the same enthusiasm a fifty-year-old hooker approaches the missionary position.

and worse.

the lyrics:
"the music's so loud, you can hear the sound"

and, how can you defend your street cred when you employ proper grammar?
"it's alright, i've my rock-n-roll dream"

i can't even think of words to write to crown the inanity.

i came to this realisation, huffing down AmericanSpirit #1 and coffee #2 on the front steps this morning... a time in which the gods deign that the dregs of musical expression must visit. this was after, of course, having the opportunity to witness, visually and olfactorally, the brown tide that was occupying the basement after the Noah-style downpour, last night.

after BandaAceh, there will be no more inapropriate water references, today.

with a start like this, today promised to be a paragon of under-whelmedness.
and did not disappoint.

slaloming through Friday traffic to take care of bidness. running errands. writing another check for the contentedly unemployed other. slogging through red clay, or "earth diarrhea", as it squeezed through my soles. and always, the plunging thermometer.

that pint of Guinness after the sunset, which made its only appearance minutes before, managed to set me a-right.

until something musically egregious spins up in the morning.
