oh, the weather outside is... phlegmy

it's been one of those days where you'd swear that the world has got a macro-headcold.

bone chilling. alternating between broody and dense, then icy downpour.

feral steam rising from the dirty sculptures of snow in parking lots.

hopefully, it won't hack up anything of substance.

though, i guess that happened, yesterday.

a rash of phone calls came in, about five-ish in the evening. not far from home, the landscape shuddered with a 4.5 on the Richter scale... the second such shiver in a couple of months. naturally, i was nowhere near when all of the drama was going on... but the story came in from all sides. curious, i did a web search to get some "objective" news... the first source that popped up was the ManchesterGuardian. hmmm... i never knew that old Blighty was interested in HillbillyHeaven.

we're so newsworthy.

before the skies did the big sneeze, a while ago, i jumped in the car to pick up some tempura salmon roll (ramen gets old by the third day). impossible to see the end of the parking lot. a real Jack-the-Ripper scene. that kind of thinking suited well when pulling into the late rush-hour DC exodus.

how bizarre... everything occulted from fifty feet away, with wheeled missiles careening on all sides. flashing blue lights strobing every few miles. i feared that i'd have to crowbar the seat cushion out of my ass by the time i had to get out of the car.

it was hairy, y'all. the situation, not my ass...necessarily.

for once i welcomed the driving rains... like nature's big honk into a hanky, it's all cleared up, now.

i could use a little less traveling drama than last week.

my big present to Yoko is something she's been bugging me about for years: taking her to see theNutcracker. this should be an interesting departure from the norm, especially since the MoscowBallet will be performing it in C'Ville. i've never heard live orchestral music... or seen RussianGirls in scanty underthings (i don't respond to those emails). here's a great chance to experience both.

hey, cheap thrills are the only ones i get, anymore.
