occasionally, i can prove that i'm as American as the next guy... sole evidence being, i watch the SuperBowl. always have. and, for the privilege of verifying my resident status, i tolerate four hours of shit officiating, frat-boy commercials (Fabio... was funny, though), goofy commentating, and "spectacle"... by "spectacle", i mean that the whole package is like the New Millenium version of Cabaret. fittingly, MickJagger does a passable JoelGrey. you know the event is lackluster when the 'Stones provide the thrills... not meaning that they still don't deserve the title GreatestRock&RollBand. so far, every review talks about how "awasum" their preformance was... and no mention, whatsoever, that the sound people completely fucked Keith Richards. couldn't hear the guitar of the LeaderOfThePack... the band's soul. Hell, RonWood was silent, too, until about halfway. not to mention the "bleepings". at least there were no wardrobe malfunctions. even though that chirpy/cocky commentator "chick" talked about somebody "pulling their pants down". classy. |
