who loves the sun

shirtsleeve weather in January... my favorite New Year's present.

though it feels like years, my skin hasn't forgotten the sensation of the sun. i've given it ample opportunity to partake over the past few days, even on studio day on Friday. with school still suspended for the holidays, it's continued to be like a scene from an end-of-the-world movie, walking across an empty campus. eerie, but comfortable all the same. for three weeks.

how different it will be in a couple of weeks, after a much-needed break.

even so, the third Ring film was a sell-out. luckily, we drove to the cinema three hours early to get tickets... not to be denied.

though i was certain my ass would never be the same, after close to four hours... which would have been worth the sacrifice.

in the dim past, my sociology teacher pegged me for the nerd/idealist that would embrace the story, and she wasn't wrong. it's even more rare when a film comes close to capturing what the imagination conjures... so sublime when it does. briefly, my belief in cinema endures.

so, too, my belief in people. i finally got to the bottom of the hot sauce crisis (the shafting by MountainRasta), finding that his partners has taken over his efforts. He, a teacher... she, a crucial Caribbean cook. Both, people who can be seen for the honesty they possess by the look in their eyes.

one hurdle, down.

another, the SAAB... completed yesterday.

and also, more tangle in the woods conquered, today.

not a bad beginning.

the warmth will be gone, tomorrow.

externally.
