get up, stand up

the atmosphere of this collection of thoughts has been, to say the least, gloomy. it's one of the reasons that entries have been so few and far between of late.
the personal side of it is evident, ad nauseam.
evident, also, are other reasons... apparent by the banner ad at the bottom.
bent by my instructors to be aware and informed, i've made better use of their influence, recently. reading current events from different news sources, mostly paper, sometimes online... rarely taking in, or being swayed by anything that network television has to offer.
attention-deficit news, financed by major corporations, is just like taking a big hoot of coke... zoom! colors! exclamations! little substance! over with quick! and you never notice that there's less than two minutes given to any particular topic, and it's usually followed by an advert for laxatives. or some other drug to be taken by mouth.
oral-and-anal.
taken in and excreted.
next?!
anyway.... there's not a major election that i've not voted in ever since i graduated from high school. unashamedly, i've never voted for anyone whom i considered a rat-bastard, based upon his/her record. manipulation, prevarication, condescension... these are qualities that will send me to the opposite camp. as will one-dimensional ideas and plans, wasting unrenewable resources, bible-thumping, false patriotism, and pandering to the rich.
that seems to be the distilled essence of current events in the relatively "recent" past.
that is why, for the life of me, i can't understand re-electing the sly motherfuckers that have been leading us down the primrose path for the past four years. a primrose path paved, as it turns out, with bodies, untold mountains of money from those seeking favors and from those who could never afford it, and every broken Commandment and then some (disguised as monkey-suited missionaries), ignorantly careening forward without regard to the world, the future, or humanity. only seeing as far ahead as the next quarterly report. or election. either inarticulately confusing the issues, or coating the truth with sweet lies. preaching but not practicing.
arrrgggh!
there is no facet of events or policy of the past four years that doesn't feel... diseased. fabricated. snide. cynical. and there is an army of clones all spouting the same crap in lockstep behind. fat. privileged. self-serving. imperious. white. male.
in the state of Virginia, voter registration ends on October 4th. wherever you are, make sure you're on the rolls... and help stop the bleeding.
and once you elect WHOever... don't let them think you're not watching. or afraid to speak your mind... because they owe their office to YOU.
