25 November, 2004 always, with the downers
typically, i despise "talk" radio... it's more like a cigar-chomping, chest-beating, race-baiting, locker room shoutfest for fascists, in my humble opinion. strangely enough, there's one i listen to on my late-night exodus from computer fluorescence... simply because it insinuates the braincells in a positive way. last night, there was a phone-in interview with a member of the FirstNations, relating the story of the first Thanksgiving... which brought home why i've been having this queasy gut reaction to the "turkey-with-awl-the-fixins'", parade-football-gluttony aspect that conflicts with the humble-family-togetherness theme that is supposed to be the foundation. funny how history changes everything, depending upon the storyteller. and we still haven't fixed it.
