i have never been so glad to be back at home. i've had some sucky weeks before, but this one has been a cracker. the utter irony was that the worst day, Tuesday (rife with administrative backtracking, HippieBoss's ennui to do anything, and a mountain of work, over-and-above this project they wanted done, last week) was my 23 year anniversary at The Gulag. this morning's Washington Post had an article about the new "facial profiling" that they've put into practice at Dulles Airport--if your face gives them cause for alarm, you're fucked. i feel so much safer knowing that our Travel Safety personnel can pull you aside if you frown, or might seem nervous or concerned about getting to your gate on time. maybe if i moon them, next trip, i'll save them the effort in the strip-search. perhaps, i won't wipe, previous to my arrival. ...and now, the whole boring-as-fuck-sensationalist-bullshit-Ramsey-case is going to displace, in typical tabloid fashion, any news that might be of use in making considered, intelligent, adult decisions about where this whole trainwreck is going to derail.
